Mendon Road Bridge in Northbridge Closing July 25th.
The Bridge will be closed until further notice
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that the bridge that carries Mendon Road over the West River will be closing on Friday, July 25th. A recent bridge inspection noted significant items with the condition of the bridge that require it to be closed. The duration of the bridge closure is unknown however this is expected to be a long-term closure. MassDOT is working with the Towns of Northbridge, Upton, Mendon, and Uxbridge to detour traffic. Traffic should follow the detour signage in place.
The primary detour route will utilize Providence Road (Route 122), Hartford Avenue in the Towns of Uxbridge and Mendon, and Uxbridge Road / Hastings Street (Route 16). The secondary detour route will utilize North Avenue in Mendon/ Mendon Street in Upton and Pleasant Street in Upton/ Quaker Street in Northbridge. Only local traffic will be allowed on Mendon Road in Northbridge and Northbridge Street in Mendon.
Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
